The Popular Theatre is a non-profit cultural society concerned with performing arts production and training, and preserving artistic heritage, working to develop the local cultural environment through programs and projects targeting women, youth and children. Its vision: A human-centered vision that champions artistic ingenuity and values diversity, democracy and equality. A vision different cultures, ideas, and artistic approaches, and capacitates women, youth and children to discover their talents, express their thoughts, and form their identities within the global surroundings. The Popular Theater was established in Jordan, in 1991, with the help and membership of a diverse base of theatrical artists. The Theater produced numerous productions, embarked on several tours across Jordan and hosted Arab and international theater troupes. The Theater pioneered within its local community as a promoter of theatric arts, organizing specialized workshops seminars, and issuing a magazine dedicated to drama and theater. In 1996, the Theater moved to Palestine and resumed artistic activities under the name of “The Popular Theater Society for Performing Arts and Training“. The theater operates today as a licensed non-profit cultural organization under the Palestinian Law. Through the following years, the Theater continued to carry out distinctive productions in various Palestinian communities and participate in regional and international festivals, conferences and seminars. The Popular Theatre organizes a festival for culture and heritage under the name of “Ramadan Lanterns Festival“, and the “Summer Camp for Arts and Heritage“. It also holds specialized trainings in several types of performing arts and storytelling, in addition to producing artistic radio shows, films and documentaries. The Society members proactively work to maintain a wider footprint within their local communities through mobile theater performances in various cities, towns and marginalized areas. As part of their efforts to expand the Theater's outreach, those members volunteer to run cultural activation programs around different Palestinian areas. The Society runs its main cultural and artistic activities within the facilities generously provided by Al-Am'ari Youth Center, in Al-Am'ari Refugee Camp since 2005
